Ing. Petr Zahradník, MSc.
Economic expert, analyst and consultant specializing in the field of EU economics. He received his MSc in Finance from the Prague’s School of Economics in 1987. In 1991-1992 he studied at the Department of Economics, Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, UK. In 1992-1993 he simultaniously studied the MSc programme in Economic Policy Management, Columbia University, N.Y., USA and the MSc level programme in European Studies at Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven, Belgium. During this period of time he also conducted economic research for the World Bank. In 1993-1995 he worked at the Institute for European and International Studies, Office of Government, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, Laxenburg, Austria. After his return to the Czech Republic he worked as a macroeconomic analyst for several companies -- Patria Finance (1995 – 1997) and Conseq Finance (1999 – 2003). In 1995-1999 he was an advisor to the Office of the Czech President Václav Havel. Currently he is the Head of the EU Office, Česká spořitelna, a.s. in Prague. He is the author of Accession to the EU (C. H. Beck, 2003) and We Are in Europe and What Else? (Petrov Publishing, 2004). He has also authored or co-authored numerous journal articles and book chapters and participated at many international conferences. He teaches Economics of Transformation at New York University (Prague Center) and cooperates with Prague’s School of Economics, Banking Institute and other higher education institutions. He has also participated on many EU-related research projects.
